Everton plotting surprise move for Ivory Coast international

Wilfried BonyEverton supporters have made their way into the Football Transfer Tavern this afternoon to toast yesterday’s victory over Swansea City that moved them back into fifth place and with it possible European football.

The 3-2 victory came courtesy of Leighton Baines penalty, Romelu Lukaku’s 12th goal of the season and Ross Barkley’s second half finish. However the Swans made the Toffees work for the three points with Wilfired Bony constantly proving a thorn in the side.

Now Steve Millar from the Daily Star has speculation that doesn’t come as too much of a surprise as he claims that Roberto Martinez wants to sign Bony in a £15 million deal during the summer.

It is likely that Martinez views the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for Lukaku, who will return his parent club Chelsea at the end of the current campaign.

The Jacks are facing the threat of possible relegation to the Championship following yesterday’s defeat and that would see the Ivory Coast man put up for sale after only 12 months with the Welsh outfit.

We must admit that doubts were raised about Bony following the failure of other strikers who had performed in the Eredivisie but struggled to find their feet in the Premier League. However Bony has certainly answered his critics with a haul of 19 goals in his 39 games this term for Garry Monk’s side.

Those Toffees fans currently drinking in the bar were able to see the threat he posed yesterday and agree with us that he would make for a solid summer signing for the Goodison Park club.

Do you think that Bony would be a good addition to Martinez’ side? Let us know your thoughts below.
