Everton preparing £6m transfer raid on Manchester United

cleverlelyEverton fans are looking alarmed and downing shots in the Football Transfer Tavern after the claim from Metro.

The publication have claimed that Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is attracting interest from Everton who of course completed the double over the Red Devils this weekend.

It is reported that the Toffees will submit a £6 million bid for the England midfielder.

Of course as one of our punters notes, United could well have moved for Roberto Martinez in the summer and done slightly better than they did with the now sacked David Moyes, and we know there will be a summer of change at Old Trafford.

Cleverley has come under more criticism than most this season – and most of our punters think it is entirely justified.

However, the England international midfielder himself thinks that he has not been treated fairly during his time at Old Trafford.

Given he has hardly improved since coming into the Red Devils’ first team, punters in the tavern believe that a fresh start could do Cleverley some good.

Everton meanwhile are looking to strengthen this summer and given their squad is build on a core of loan signings, that certainly means that new faces will have to be brought in this summer to maintain the success they are currently enjoying.

Will Everton make their interest in Cleverley official come the summer? Is he even good enough for the Toffees? Let us know your thoughts below.
