Everton fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to enjoy a successful end to the season, having struggled for consistency throughout the current campaign.
The Toffees have certainly been better in recent times as they’re beginning to pick up positive results, but do still find themselves struggling against some of the bigger teams in the Premier League. Although, many of our local Evertonians recently received some positive news, as according to the Mail Online’s pre-match team news for Everton’s game against Newcastle, Gylfi Sigurdsson is back training outside for his rehabilitation sessions.
The Icelandic international has been sidelined with a knee injury that has put his World Cup hopes in doubt, after picking up a knock against Brighton in their 2-0 victory last month.
However, he now looks to be a few weeks away from recovering from the injury, as he’s now back training outside for his rehabilitation sessions but could still miss the Toffees’ remaining Premier League fixtures.
Indeed, as one of the most influential players in the first-team squad at Goodison Park, the Merseyside club won’t look to rush him back into action as he’ll play a key part for them next season.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has bagged himself six goals and provided five assists for his teammates in the current campaign, and he’ll have a huge part to play in the club’s future as they go on in search of European football. Although, they won’t want to rush him back into action for their remaining Premier League fixtures, as they run the risk of him suffering a recurrence of the knee injury.
