Everton receive double transfer boost ahead of January window

According to The Daily Mail, Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin are free to leave Manchester United in January amid links to Everton – delighting our Toffees here in the Transfer Tavern.

Indeed, they are already in good spirits today here by the bar thanks to their superb win last night against Arsenal at Goodison Park.

After falling behind to an Alexis Sanchez free-kick the home faithful roared them back into the game as Seamus Coleman and Ashley Williams headers sealed a 2-1 victory.

It looks like, then, it’s going to be a good week for our Blues fans with this latest news a definite positive ahead of the January window.

Both Depay and Schneiderlin have struggled for game time this season under Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese boss has revealed that he is happy to listen to offers for any player ahead of the market opening.

He is quoted by the report as saying:

“I am always open to listen to offers for every player.

“Any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. When Mata left Chelsea to come to United, no problem at all. I am always open.”

Our landlord thinks both players would be great signings for Ronald Koeman and his team with Schneiderlin a real pass master and Depay just needing some confidence to show off his true ability.
