Tottenham Hotspur fans are looking up with surprise here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they hear that the Daily Express have broken the news that Aaron Lennon won’t be joining Hull City as expected this deadline day.
Our resident Stoke City and Everton fans have greeted this news with a cheer as they still remain in the hunt for Lennon’s signature before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.
The Lilywhites winger has been heavily linked with a loan move away from North London this January and given his playing time has been seriously limited, we can hardly blame our regulars for thinking that.
However, according to Hull City, there will not be any attempt from them to take the Englishman on loan and that will leave Steve Bruce scrambling to bring in another player who can help add some much needed creativity to his forward line.
As our punters note over by the deadline day big screen in the tavern, if Lennon doesn’t earn a transfer before 11pm, he could be left in a sticky situation after failing to nail down a place in the Spurs side under Mauricio Pochettino since his arrival at the club last summer as the latest in a long line of managers.
Spurs fans. Do you think Lennon will find an escape route out of White Hart Lane before 11pm? Let us know your thoughts below.
