Everton fans must be wondering where their club would be in the Premier League table if they were able to have a striker that was consistently able to find the back of the net.
The likes of Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse (who joined Cardiff City in the winter) have not hit the ground running at Goodison Park, leaving the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison being heavily relied on to find those goals.
However, it appears that Marco Silva has identified a possible striker to sign ahead of the summer transfer window that could help them improve in front of goal next season.
What’s the news?
According to Sport/Foot, via Sport Witness, Club Brugge’s Wesley Moraes remains a name being linked with the Toffees.
The 22-year-old, who has also been speculated with a move to Arsenal, Fiorentina and Lazio as well, has been in fine form for the Belgian outfit, having netted 14 goals in his 36 appearances across all competitions so far, per Transfermarkt.
Everton certainly need to add firepower to their ranks in the summer if they are to ever challenge for European football again, as goals from their main attacking threat have been far too inconsistent.
Moraes could be the perfect player to help bring them to Goodison Park on a regular basis, as he is a strong physical player that is very good in the air and can be utilised as a target man should Silva look to do so.
It is understood that he could be available for a fee of 20million (£17.2m), which could be a bargain for the impressive Brazilian.
Tosun is clearly having problems in the first-team and his future continues to remain in doubt at the Premier League side as he still finds opportunities hard to come by.
Everton fans, do you think signing Moraes could improve the club’s fortunes up front and provide a regular source of goals as a striker? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
