Everton reportedly ready to battle Manchester City for classy target

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern often look at Manchester City and think about what could have happened if they’d been taken over by oil-rich owners.

Our City fans, meanwhile, have gone from seeing Everton as close rivals to that not being the case as they’ve shot to the very upper echelons of the game in this country.

Even so, both sides now have wealthy owners and it appears the Toffees are more than ready to take the likes of City on – especially given the 4-0 result at Goodison Park earlier this season.

And, whilst Ronald Koeman aims to try and reel the biggest sides in on the pitch, he seems ready to battle with them off of the pitch.

That’s because, as per Dean Jones for Bleacher Report, the Toffees are looking at Jack Wilshere as well as Pep Guardiola’s men.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Bournemouth from Arsenal and it is unclear as to whether he is going to play for the Gunners next season.

Could he be in a shade of blue for 2017/18, then? Only time will tell.
