The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed a very good summer…
Boosted by the funds made from the sale of Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees have spent big this summer and, crucially, they have spent wisely.
Great players like Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane have already moved to Goodison Park, and according to Wales Online, Ronald Koeman is readying another move in an effort to land another key signing.
Wales Online report that after pleading his case to the Everton board, Ronald Koeman is said to have convinced his club to launch another move for Gyfli Sigurdsson, with a move of around £45 million – plus Callum Connolly – expected to be made.
Thus far, Everton’s efforts have been in vain, but with the Toffees now willing to up their offer once again, they could finally land their man.
However, Swansea City have, thus far, been unwilling to play ball. Could this offer be enough to make a deal happen?
Sigurdsson is, undoubtedly, Swansea’s best player, but money talks, and this move could be too hard for the Welsh side to turn down.
Thus far they have been hesitant to cash in, but it is now or never for Paul Clement, as he cannot risk starting the season with question marks remaining over his star player.
For Everton, there is no doubting that he would be a huge influence next season, and Ronald Koeman clearly rates him highly.
If Koeman gets his man, the Toffees could be a force to be reckoned with next season.
