Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping their men in the boardroom can pull off this transfer as big-spenders Monaco target the same man.
According to reports in France via talkSPORT, the Toffees could lose out on the signature of Marsielle’s captain Steve Mandanda as Monaco join the race.
The 31-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the season after failing to agree a new deal at the Stade Velodrome.
Mandanda and his teammates have had a disappointing season, as they are currently 13th in Ligue 1, having won only nine games out of a possible 36.
It is vital that Roberto Martinez finds a replacement for Tim Howard who is set to join MLS side Colarado Rapids at the end of the season.
Mandanda, who has been told his position is at risk next season, is reportedly seeking a move to the Premier League, but Monaco are confident their Champions League status next season could tempt him in.
Our resident Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern feel someone of Mandanda’s calibre would be a fantastic signing, though the majority are uncertain about his age, and feel the club should really be aiming to sign younger players with more potential!
Everton fans. Would you be happy if you landed Steve Mandanda or should you target someone else to replace Tim Howard? Let us know your thoughts below!
