That is because according to the Daily Express, the Toffees’ hopes of signing Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal have been given a major boost.
That is because Chelsea have given a one-year deal to Blues fan favourite Didier Drogba after the Ivorian international left Turkish giants Galatasaray at the end of last season.
Jose Mourinho’s move for Drogba has come as a massive shun to Lukaku who was reportedly willing to fight for a place at Stamford Bridge this summer.
But it is now presumed that Lukaku will turn his back on West London and make a permanent move to Goodison Park.
The Toffees are rumoured to be readying an £18 million bid for the 21-year old Belgian international – a figure that would smash their record transfer figure.
Everton’s previous transfer record was the £15 million spent on now Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini but that looks likely to be obliterated by the arrival of fellow international Lukaku.
Everton fans. It puzzles me to see Didier Drogba’s replacement replaced by Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge. But is Chelsea’s loss Everton’s gain? Let us know your thoughts below.
