The Everton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club are set to approach a manager from a fellow Premier League club.
Reports in The Daily Mirror suggest that the club could be set to make an approach for Southampton manager Ronald Koeman as early as next week.
Koeman has seen contract talks with his current employers stall, and new Everton money man Farhad Moshiri is ready to break the bank to land the Dutchman.
The news comes despite Koeman distancing himself with the top job at Goodison Park, but Moshiri feels that the wage he can offer the Dutchman and the massive war chest for transfers this summer will be enough to tempt the popular Southampton manager to make the move North for next season.
Moshiri has not kept it a secret that Koeman is the man he wants to replace Roberto Martinez, despite the club being linked with moves for the likes of Unai Emery and Frank De Boer.
Our landlord in The Tavern believes that if the club manage to pull off the appointment of Koeman for next season the only way is up for Everton.
