Perhaps this has something to do with the Toffees’ 3-0 win over Southampton at the weekend, in which Roberto Martinez seemed to have his side playing back to their best.
Or maybe it’s the fact the club have got a week closer to the end of the transfer window with John Stones still on their books?
It’s a saga that is expected to run right until the very end however, with our landlord informing us of a story from the Daily Star that claims the Toffees have identified Swansea captain Ashley Williams as a potential replacement for Chelsea target Stones.
Chelsea are set to return with an improved offer for the Everton defender this week, and whilst the Toffees insist Stones is not for sale at any price, Martinez has identified 30-year-old Williams as a potential replacement, having managed the Wales international during his time in charge at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea City fans here in the Tavern are sure that Williams wouldn’t depart the Liberty Stadium, and are confident he will remain a Swansea player this season!
