Everton should bolster their squad with move for standout Championship midfielder

The Everton supporters here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been reasonably pleased with how the 2016/17 season has panned out for them, with the club’s fans hopeful that they can steal a place in next season’s Europa League with a lofty league placing.

The Toffees were defeated by champions in waiting Chelsea last weekend but nonetheless they will hope to finish the campaign with a flourish and secure a place as high up the table as possible.

Next season will be a big campaign for boss Ronald Koeman and he will undoubtedly look towards the transfer market in order to strengthen his squad, with midfield a cause for concern according to some of the Everton faithful here in the Tavern.

One man who should definitely be on the club’s list of potential targets is Derby County sensation Will Hughes, with the England U21 man likely to be the subject of attention from several clubs this summer.

The youngster has been in fine form for the Rams since bursting onto the scene as a teenager and with the Rams losing out on the Championship play-offs this season, it could mean that some of their top performers are sold in the summer.

The Merseyside-based club have a proud history of producing top youngsters and Hughes would fit the ethos of the club remarkably well, whilst Everton would also tie down one of the country’s brightest prospects ahead of his best years.

One Toffees supporter is sat tucking into an all day breakfast here in the Tavern and he agrees that having followed Hughes’ career closely, the midfielder would certainly be a good signing for the club.
