Everton have made some serious splashes in the transfer market this summer, spending big but also recouping a large sum with the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.
Regardless though, it has been an exciting summer for the Toffees fans here in the Tavern, and they are waiting with anticipation to see what Ronald Koeman’s next move will be in the market.
Despite signing some big names, Everton and Koeman have also made quite a big deal out of signing some of the top young talent from across the country, with recent examples like Mason Holgate and Dom Calvert-Lewin prime examples of this.
Our landlord thinks that they should continue this policy, and one player who fits this mould is Sheffield United youngster David Brooks.
The impressive teenage midfielder was due to spend the season with Chesterfield until Chris Wilder pulled the plug following the youngsters hugely impressive summer with England in the Toulon tournament.
Brooks was named player of the tournament and contributed immensely with goals and assists. He has since joined Wilder’s squad for pre-season, and scored a stunning winning goal in the 2-1 win over Chesterfield two nights ago.
The Blades will know they have a battle on their hands to keep hold of young Brooks though. Clubs like Everton will no doubt be circling, and should a big bid come in, it will be hard for both the club and player to turn down a deal.
Everton fans, what do you think to this? How much do you know about Brooks? Give us your thoughts!
