Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern may still be struggling to get over Romelu Lukaku’s departure but signing Rachid Ghezzal would help to soothe the pain.
Ghezzal is a free agent after his contract expired at Ligue 1 side Lyon and the midfielder rejected a new offer to stay at the club.
The 25-year-old was a product of the club’s academy and he went on to make 87 appearances in the senior team but has since decided he wants a new challenge in his career.
He scored just two goals in 38 games last season and while punters at the bar have said they would want more in terms of goals scored, his general play and overall consistency in his performance levels suggests he is more than good enough for the Premier League.
He has quick feet and is a very good crosser of the ball, two things which any decent winger needs to possess to be effective.
He’s also an Algerian international having played 11 times for the nation.
At 25 years old he clearly has a solid amount of experience which will no doubt stand him in good stead if Everton do decide to take the plunge on him.
Given his out-of-contract status, he would cost nothing to sign which makes the idea of acquiring his signature even more enticing.
It’s not very rare you get such a talent for so cheap in the current market.
Even if it’s just on a one-year deal, surely signing him and seeing how he gets on in the Premier League is a no-brainer.
