Everton scored an excellent win over Leicester City this weekend, as they ran out 2-1 winners at the King Power Stadium.
The Blues have looked good in patches this term, but despite signing Frenchman Lucas Digne, there is still some question marks over whether the club have got a long term replacement for crowd favourite Leighton Baines lined up.
We at the Tavern think Digne might struggle for consistency, and instead think the club should move to sign Southampton left back Ryan Bertrand.
The Saints left back has been as consistent as they come in the last few seasons, and it would have been no surprise to see Bertrand make a move away from St Mary’s due to his form and willingness to fly forward, something which is crucial to many teams in the modern game.
Bertrand would certainly have no problem settling in at Goodison, and he would be an adequate replacement for the aforementioned Baines.
If Marco Silva wants to see success, he needs to keep improving his squad, and Bertrand would be a superb addition to ensure this happens.
Everton fans, what do you think? Would Bertrand be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
