Everton have had a poor season by their own high standards this season, with the club loitering around in mid-table after sacking Ronald Koeman and putting former England manager Sam Allardye in charge.
The Toffees were expected to do much better this term after a summer of massive investment, but instead, have struggled to replace the goals they Romelu Lukaku brought to the table, and have found plenty of their new signings struggle for any sort of form.
Our landlord thinks the summer is going to be a big one for the club, and he thinks a few positions in the squad need sorting out, not least at left back, where the club will need to make sure they secure a long term replacement for Leighton Baines in the coming seasons.
One such player who could fit this mould is Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, who has been struggling at Man United to get any sort of game time amid fallouts with Jose Mourinho.
However, the former Southampton man is still a talented player, and he could well benefit from playing for a team like Everton, where he could be given more freedom and time to play week in week out.
As modern left backs go, Shaw should have all the tools to be a top player in his position. His time at United has simply not worked out, but there is plenty left in the tank for Shaw, who will be looking for a move this summer and could find Everton as his ideal destination.
