The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed by their side’s transfer activity so far this month. Two key squad gaps have been filled by the arrivals of Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun, with Sam Allardyce clearly desperate to improve the team at his disposal.
It has been a mixed season so far for the Toffees, and so it will come as no surprise to learn that the former England manager is not finished yet, with another player apparently being targeted.
According to the Sun, Sam Allardyce is looking at Lille ace Adama Soumaoro as he looks to reinforce his dissapointing defence. The Toffees have struggled at the back this term, with a lack of solidity proving problematic in their quest to climb up the Premier League table.
They’ve improved their attacking options this month, but the defence has had markedly less emphasis – but now that could change.
Currently playing for Lille, Soumaoro is apparently keen on a move to the Premier League, and he’d no doubt be a decent fit in the English top flight. A powerful defender, the £18m-rated stalwart has impressed in France when he has featured this season, having made 7 appearances.
Further investment at Everton this month is said to be ‘likely’, with Sam Allardyce clearly keen to add more quality.
Soumaoro would be a good fit. He’s strong, he’s physical and he’s a real force in the air.
He hasn’t played that much football over the last few years, but when he has featured this term he has looked good.
A move would certainly be a risk, but it might be a worthy one, given Everton’s current deficiencies.
