Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are having a quiet discussion amongst themselves after reading reports that one of their players may well be leaving the club in January if the right offer comes in.
According to an article from the Liverpool Echo, out-of-favour Everton striker Steven Naismith has hinted that his time at Goodison Park may have come to an end as his lack of game time has left him feeling frustrated.
The Scotland international has been limited to just 4 minutes of game time in the last 6 weeks as in-form striker, Romelu Lukaku, continues to impress and Naismith has admitted he may have to leave the Blues if he can’t get regular football under Roberto Martinez.
The 29-year-old has not started a game for Everton since the 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United way back in October with only 2 substitute appearances in the Capital One Cup since then.
“The manager said we’d speak about it again come January time so we’ll do that. At the moment I’m just concentrating on playing my football as part of a great squad and hopefully if I get my chance to play again, I take it.”
“But you’ve got to weigh up all your options and see where you’re at. At the start of the season I wasn’t playing then got thrown on nine minutes into the Chelsea game and not many people would’ve seen me scoring a hat-trick. That shows you how quickly it can change.”
With the January transfer window fast approaching, Naismith’s services at Goodison Park may no longer be required.
