Everton have got a big season on the horizon as they re-enter the Europa League and look to continue their growth under manager Ronald Koeman.
The Toffees just about secured European football last season and the Everton fans lining the bar here in the Tavern are excited about the season ahead.
There’s thought amongst some areas of supporters here in the pub that big additions need to be brought in over the summer months in order for the Blues to keep pace with some of the other big sides in the division next season.
But first, the Blues manager needs to take a look at his current crop of players and who deserves to stay and who should be axed over the coming weeks and months.
And one man that might be at risk is captain Phil Jagielka, who didn’t feature as regularly as he might’ve liked last season.
Sheffield United have now been touted as a potential destination for the experienced England international, who started his career at Bramall Lane.
And current Blades boss Chris Wilder has welcomed the news lining Jagielka with a potential summer move, suggesting he’d always be welcome back in Yorkshire.
“I’ve not spoken to Phil,” he said. “He’s gone from here to have a wonderful career and if we wants to come back and play here for a couple of years we’d be delighted,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
United are back in the Championship having secured promotion from League One last season.
