Everton & Sunderland could complete £15m deal as Koeman makes first serious move

The Transfer Tavern’s Everton drinkers are delighted by reports claiming Ronald Koeman’s squad could be boosted this summer by the arrival of two exciting English talents.

According to The Sun, the Toffees will launch a £40million raid on Burnley and Sunderland respectively for England duo Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford.

Keane was arguably the biggest success story of the international break, impressing against Germany and Lithuania with calm and composed displays at the heart of defence, performing well in both a back three and a back four.

Pickford, meanwhile, is still awaiting his first England cap but was called up to the senior squad in October to replace Tom Heaton amid a fine run of form at club level for the Black Cats.

Keane is reportedly already keen on a move to Goodison Park because he’ll get regular game-time as Ashley Williams’ centre-back partner.

Pickford, meanwhile, is rated at £15million and it’s claimed Koeman ‘has made the first serious move’ in the race for his signature, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City also keen.

Everton punters in the Tavern are particularly excited by news of Pickford’s arrival. The goalkeeping department has been a real problem area since Tim Howard departed for the MLS, with Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg both struggling to convince this season.

The 23-year-old has made 68 saves in 19 Premier League appearances this season, but kept only four clean sheets.
