Everton will host their final fixture at Goodison Park this season when Burnley come to town on Friday night. The Toffees still have slim hopes of finishing seventh in the Premier League, however, their dramatic upturn in form may give fans some confidence heading into the encounter.
And, it appears Marco Silva has some encouraging news as they prepare for the in-form Clarets.
What’s the News?
According to a match preview on the club’s official website, Silva will be able to call upon Yerry Mina for Burnley’s visit to Goodison Park, whilst Sky Sports claim Theo Walcott will also be available after overcoming the illness that ruled him out of last weekend’s draw against Crystal Palace.
The Colombian has been unavailable since March after picking up a hamstring injury whilst on international duty, however, he is now ready to make a return to the Everton side.
The Toffees will continue to be without Andre Gomes for the contest as he serves the last of his three-game ban, meaning he will be available for their season-finale away to Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.
Having both Mina and Walcott available will come as a boost to Everton on Friday night as they look to keep their hopes of a seventh-placed finish and a potential place in the Europa League next season alive.
As the Colombian has struggled throughout his debut season at Goodison Park, he could use the game as a way of showing why he was signed last summer and prove a point to those that might be a little sceptical about what he can offer the Toffees.
If Kurt Zouma is to head back to Chelsea at the conclusion of his loan deal, then Mina will be an immediate replacement and if he can put in a solid performance against a side like Burnley, then it could excite fans about his future with them moving forward.
Walcott has played a key role for Silva this season and has come up with some important contributions, having netted four goals and provided two assists so far in his 35 Premier League appearances.
With his future supposedly on the line, the match against Burnley could force him to put in an outstanding performance to try and save his Toffees career, which can only benefit Everton in the game.
