Everton to battle Tottenham Hotspur for attacking Serie A playmaker

Keisuke Hondaverton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were interested to hear Roberto Martinez claim he was in the market for three more signings before the close of the transfer window, and reports from the Express claim one of them could be Japan international and Milan playmaker Keisuke Honda.

Reports in Italy claim that Milan are ready to sell the 29-year-old midfielder for the right price, and Everton have expressed an interest.

However, Roberto Martinez may well have to do battle with Tottenham for his signature, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to add more creativity to his side after a quiet transfer window.

Honda only arrived at the San Siro two years ago, having previously been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal. The Japan star has been given no assurances over a spot in the first team for the new season however, and would be open to a switch to the Premier League.

Honda is a massive name in his native Japan, having appeared in two World Cups and having helped them to an Asian Cup win in 2011.

A host of Everton fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern feel this would be a coup for the club, with all of them feeling Honda has that creative spark that will enhance their attacking options considerably!
