Our punters are nodding at the latest claim from Metro, who note that with a top four finish, Everton can land one of their top targets.
Romelu Lukaku is a target for both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur this summer and with his Chelsea future in increasing doubt, it seems likely that a battle for his signature may well commence.
For Everton to land the player – who has of course spent a successful spell on loan at Goodison Park this term – they would have to be able to offer him Champions League football.
This is not something Spurs will be able to offer and according to our punters, a permanent move to Everton could do the Belgian international the world of good.
Lukaku chose to spend the season on loan in order to further his prospects for the World Cup with Belgium and with the injury to Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, he is all but assured a spot in the Red Devils’ starting eleven come the summer.
Next season, Chelsea are looking to bring in at least two top forwards, which of course would place Lukaku further down the pecking order once again.
Our landlord pours a round of pints and notes that we think the powerful forward will be looking for a new club this summer.
Will Lukaku quite simply be heading to Everton on a permanent basis if the Toffees snare fourth place this season? Let us know your thought below.
