According to the Daily Star, Everton midfielder James McCarthy could leave Goodison Park in January due to a contractual dispute.
Back on summer deadline day of 2013, the Toffees’ deal to sign the former Wigan Athletic star last year was rushed so that the Merseyside club could ensure the £13 million deal went through in time.
Everton are understood to have agreed to improve terms based on the midfielder’s performances over the course of his Goodison Park career to date.
The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international midfielder feels he has met those demands and therefore expects the Goodison outfit to improve his current deal.
However, talks are yet to open despite rumours that both parties were poised to sit down for negotiations.
Manchester United and Manchester City have previously shown an interest in signing the former Hamilton Academical midfielder.
As have North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur before he moved to Everton and they could yet reignite their interest.
