Premier League club Everton are eyeing up an ambitious swoop on Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, as new boss Ronald Koeman looks set to be handed a £100 million war chest ahead of the new season.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Roma midfielder has been touted as a potential target for the Toffees as Koeman looks to add some steel to the midfield at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old is likely to cost the club around £30 million and it could represent a big risk considering that his time with Roma has been dogged by a series of high profile injuries, including a serious knee ligament problem.
Nonetheless, this news has alerted the Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern and many are relishing the prospect of Koeman having such a massive transfer kitty to use this summer.
One Toffees die-hard is waiting for the landlord to change the barrel and he thinks that Strootman would be an excellent addition to the current squad, although he does concede that £30 million is a lot of money for such an injury prone player.
Everton fans, what do you know about Kevin Strootman? Would he be a good signing for the club?
