Everton weigh up move for PL star after conceding defeat in pursuit of top target

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern keep telling us that they need a new goalkeeper.

They are unconvinced by either of their current goalkeeper options and keep reiterating their desire to get a top class goalkeeper to move to the next level.

Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg have alternated between the sticks at Goodison Park this season but neither has really staked a claim for a regular starting spot.

Everton had been widely linked with Jordan Pickford but have reportedly been put off with his price tag.

According to The Sun, Everton will give up their chase of Pickford, who has been rated at £30m by Sunderland, and instead pursue a deal for Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester City could be set to lose a number of first team stars this season after a poor year and Everton can offer Schmeichel European football.

The 30-year-old is also on the radar of Manchester City and Manchester United but Everton are considered to be leading the chase and lining up a bid already.

The Denmark international helped Leicester to lift the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season and has plenty of experience of playing in the top flight, whilst Pickford is still fairly inexperienced.
