Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern understand that the goalkeeping department is a major area in the team that needs to be strengthened in what will a be a busy summer, following Tim Howard’s departure to Colorado Rapids.
According to ESPN, the Toffees are lining up a move for Hellas Verona goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
The 21-year-old, like Howard, used to be at Manchester United and after impressing in Serie A this season, Everton are keen to snap him up.
He is currently playing for Italy at Under-20 level and has been impressive, despite being in a side who were relegated to Serie B.
Gollini’s 27 appearances this season have led to Italian’s tipping him to become their next number one goalkeeper in the international squad.
Everton are looking to bring him back to Premier League, following his Manchester United days, whilst Napoli are looking to poach him.
Our resident Toffees fans don’t want to comment on the speculation, because most of them admit they’ve never heard of the fella in their life!
