The Everton fans who are competing in a darts tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing yet another manager who is linked with the vacant position at their club.
ESPN are reporting that the Merseyside club could be set to target the current manager of Braga, Paulo Fonseca, as a replacement for Roberto Martinez this summer.
According to the report, a source close to the Portuguese side confirmed that Everton had officials at last weekend’s Portuguese cup final win over Porto, and that they were suitably impressed and are considering making a move for the 49-year-old to become the club’s next boss.
Nunerous names have been linked with the vacant position at Goodison Park, with the likes of Ronald Koeman, Manuel Pellegrini and Frank De Boer all touted as replacements for Martinez.
The club’s hopes of landing Sevilla coach Unai Emery took a blow yesterday, when the Sevilla club president revealed that he expected the Europa League winning manager to be at the club next season.
The Everton fans in The Tavern are pleased with the quality of the names linked with the position, and are happy that the club are taking their time to ensure the right man is in place for next season.
Our landlord here in the Tavern thinks that Ronald Koeman would be the ideal man for the job at Goodison Park, but cannot envisage seeing it materialise!
