Everton without Richarlison for Rotherham clash

Everton will be preparing for their match against Rotherham United on Wednesday night, however, the Toffees will be without a key player for their League Cup clash.

According to a match preview by Sky Sports, the Goodison Park outfit will be without Richarlison for the next three games after the Brazilian was shown a red card.

The midfielder, who arrived from Watford this summer, has started life on Merseyside in fine fashion, however, his sending off will have put a negative mark on it.

The 21-year-old was shown a straight red card for headbutting Adam Smith during their 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth last Saturday.

However, the match could also be the perfect opportunity for Kurt Zouma to make his first start for his new side.

The France international has joined Everton on a season-long loan from Chelsea and made his debut against the Cherries after he had to come on for Michael Keane, who suffered a hairline fracture to his skull in the closing moments of the game.

The Verdict:

Everton should have too much for the Championship new boys and will be considered to be comfortable favourites to progress to the next round.

Richarlison was likely to miss out of the game as Marco Silva would likely have made changes for the visit of the Millers, although Zouma may have been given his opportunity.

The Premier League side should not look too far forward though, as the competition always has the ability to throw up a few surprises.
