Everton will be looking to bring in a couple of defensive reinforcements before the transfer window deadline having leaked goals over the course of pre-season.
The Toffees certainly have a lot of things to think about before the Premier League campaign gets underway next weekend. Importantly, it looks as if Marco Silva has already taken their current defensive situation into account, as according to Team talk, Everton would happily take Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof if they can’t secure a deal for Marcos Rojo.
Marcos Rojo has been a target for the Toffees for a while now, but they are aware that Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof could yet be available too, and they have told United they would be happy to sign either of them, if they wanted them off their wage bill.
Interestingly, the Merseyside club are happy to sign the Englishman on a permanent deal, whilst the Swede would be a loan option.
The Toffees are in desperate need of a central defender this summer. And, it looks as if it will be one of Manchester United’s defensive contingent that will rock up at Goodison Park.
Indeed, Marco Silva will be well aware that his current squad could benefit from another couple of quality players, but he has left it late with only four days left in the transfer window.
Nevertheless, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are two established central defenders that have shown their quality on the international stage and in the Premier League.
