11-goals-in-27-games striker lined up to replace Lukaku at Everton

Are Everton fans getting sick of updates surrounding the Romelu Lukaku saga? Well, TuttoMercatoWeb don’t care if they are, with the Italian outlet claiming that Genoa’s Giovanni Simeone is being lined up as a replacement for the wantaway ace.

The name Simeone may well be familiar to Toffees supporters, with the 21-year-old forward the son of well-known Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, but he’s carving out a reputation in his own right in Italy.

Indeed, the young hitman only joined the Serie A side from River Plate last year but has already settled well in Europe, netting 11 goals in 27 games across all competitions, albeit he’s currently on a run of six without scoring.

And TuttoMercatoWeb claim that his development has alerted Everton, who could move for him if Lukaku, who has reportedly told the club he will not sign a new contract with them, leaves.

TMW speculate that the Belgian could head to Chelsea if Diego Costa departs in a few months’ time, but regardless of where the 23-year-old ends up Ronald Koeman will need to add another striker if the 23-year-old heads away.

Is Romelu Lukaku right to want to leave Everton?
