Everton supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 3-1 success over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Sam Allardyce’s men went into their clash with the Eagles off the back of going down 5-1 at the hands of Arsenal the week before, a result which saw them slip to just seven points clear of the relegation zone. Yet the Toffees put greater distance between themselves and the bottom three on Saturday as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse, and Tom Davies sealed a routine victory for the Merseysiders, with Luke Milivojevic’s late penalty proving to be just a mere consolation for the travelling Palace supporters.
Consequently, there have been many happy Evertonians in the Tavern this week, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from RadioMarca (via The Liverpool Echo), which outlines intriguing comments from striker Sandro Ramirez about his future at Goodison Park.
The 22-year-old made the move to Everton during the summer for just £5.25 million, a deal seen to be a bargain given he netted 16 goals in just 31 matches for Malaga last season.
Yet things simply haven’t worked out for the Spanish forward in England with no Premier League goals to show for his efforts in the first half of the campaign, which has since seen him shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Sevilla for the rest of the season.
And Sandro has already made it clear that he’d like to remain at the Spanish club beyond the summer, saying: ‘I’ve been here two weeks and I want to continue next season at Sevilla. I’m really where I want to be.’
And these comments are sure to intrigue our resident Everton fans, who are unlikely to be too disappointed were the £5.25m flop to leave the club in the summer after a disastrous spell at Goodison Park.
Landlord’s verdict: Everton were seen to have done pretty well in landing Sandro Ramirez for just £5.25 million during the summer, this following a season in which he bagged 16 goals in only 31 games for Malaga.
But it hasn’t worked for the 22-year-old on Merseyside and he has subsequently been loaned out to Sevilla for the rest of the season, and after just a few weeks at the La Liga side, the man himself already sees his future there as opposed to Goodison Park.
And this is news unlikely to faze our resident Everton fans, who will surely now be hoping that £27 million January signing Cenk Tosun doesn’t follow a similar route in the coming weeks and months.
