Everton should definitely throw their hat in the ring to sign Aaron Ramsey if he does eventually leave Arsenal.

The Welshman is Arsenal’s longest-serving player and was expected to put pen-to-paper on a new deal this summer. Contract negotiations stalled initially but were set to be resolved before Arsenal decided to retract their offer. The Gunners are now resigned to losing the Wales international on a free transfer and could choose to cut their losses when the window reopens in January.

Ramsey has been a crucial player for the club since joining from Cardiff City back in 2012. It seems Unai Emery sees no place for him in his first-team plans and Ramsey has attracted plenty of attention from Premier League and European clubs. There is no reason why Everton shouldn’t enter the race for his signature.

Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, Ramsey could be the perfect partner for Idrissa Gueye in the heart of midfield. The midfielder would struggle to break into the first-team at the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea while Everton could offer him the chance to play regular football in the starting XI. A move to Goodison Park would also see him reunite with Theo Walcott who joined from Arsenal back in January. Ramsey would demand huge wages in order to make a move to Merseyside, but Everton should have no trouble in putting together a suitable financial package.

The 27-year-old is a dynamic midfielder who would slot seamlessly into Marco Silva’s system and could develop quickly into a crucial player for the Blues. With plenty of Premier League and European experience, his arrival could be the boost Everton need to end the season in a European spot.
