Allardyce makes plain future plans with comments likely to intrigue Everton fans

Everton will be looking ahead to the summer as the fans in the Transfer Tavern will want to move on quickly from the disastrous campaign they have just had.

The Toffees were expected by many in the bar to challenge for European football, but instead saw their side try and compete to remain in the Premier League after an abysmal start.

The club spent a huge amount of money to try and break into the top four – however, after a poor start which saw Ronald Koeman sacked and replaced by Sam Allardyce, the Goodison Park outfit are set to finish in a mid-table position.

Everton will want to be challenging next season and the man who was appointed manager in November has made plain his future plans, having claimed he has already spoken with the owner about their summer plans ahead of next season.

He told Sky Sports: ‘We discussed plans for next season yesterday with Farhad. I think we have some clarity moving forward now.

‘I think our pre-season, in terms of when we start back and where we go, is nearly in place. (Regarding) ins and outs of players, it is a wait-and-see basis in terms of what we can achieve and then, under those circumstances, what players do we move on.’

When asked if he will be the man in charge at the beginning, he insisted it will be him.

‘Didn’t I just say that? For clarification, yes.’

And these comments are likely to intrigue but perhaps frustrate Toffees fans up and down the country, with many voicing their displeasure with Allardyce in recent weeks, most notably in their win over Newcastle on Monday and indeed the week before at Swansea City.

Landlord’s Verdict: A number of the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed with the news that the Toffees will be keeping Allardyce at the helm, this all despite the good job he has done at Goodison Park since his arrival.

A number of the locals have been vocal in trying to get rid of him in their bid to attract a high-profile manager with European ambitions.

Yet it looks like Allardyce will indeed be at the club for the start of the 2018/19 season.
