The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their club has hired former player, Steven Pienaar as their first official Everton international ambassador. The club tweeted the news with a link to the Everton website for more details as the fans flocked to congratulate the South African.
| #EFC is delighted to announce Steven Pienaar has become the Club’s first official Everton International Ambassador.
Welcome back, @therealstevenpi!
— Everton (@Everton) 3 April 2018
Steven Pienaar amassed over 200 appearances for Everton in two spells either side of a short spell at Spurs and the Goodison Park fan favourite has now been given his second full-time role with The Toffees as he’s been appointed the club’s first ever Everton International Ambassador. Pienaar will be tasked with elevating the profile of the famous club on the international stage, and given Pienaar’s reputation in Africa, having become one of the continent’s best players in recent years, the winger shouldn’t struggle to promote the Bluenoses.
The Everton fans, whilst no doubt ecstatic for their former player in his new role, will be frustrated that they don’t have a man like Pienaar on the pitch at the moment. The South African’s energy and passion in an Everton shirt was always on show and the club has been missing that under Sam Allardyce this season. The fans have made their discontent with the former England manager known as the club sit 9th with six games remaining and look unlikely to secure European football for next season as was the club’s ambition at the start of the season.

Really make our day and announce that Ashley Williams is the toilet cleaning ambassador and Morgan Schneiderlin is the grass cutting ambassador* (*may take some time and only be cut sideways)
