Sam Allardyce is set to bolster his attacking options and is ready to make a move with a £2m bid for Fulham front-man Andy Johnson this Thursday, according to the Daily Mirror.
The once England International is top of big Sam’s wish list of strikers, that also consists of former Villa hit man John Carew.
The 30 year old currently has one year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, but after four years in West London, plus a disappointing campaign last season, maybe a fresh start with a new challenge is just what the former Evertonian needs… and where better than Upton Park.
Johnson knows all about playing in the Championship, and has spent eight out of his 14 professional years involved amongst England’s second tier with Birmingham City and Crystal Palace.
He has had a taste of promotion to the Pem with Palace, as he displayed his best form of his career netting 28 league goals helping the Londoners break into the top flight.
If he can stay fit, and recoup his form his undoubted talent would certainly play a major role in pushing the hammers to make an instant return to the Premiership.
