‘Bring back Lookman’ – Everton fans on Twitter slate star after Baines’ comments

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been slating their Congolese winger, Yannick Bolasie after Leighton Baines, whilst speaking in an interview for the Everton website, claimed that the fans need to allow Bolasie to express himself on the football pitch. The comments from Baines have led to the fans slating Bolasie for his displays in his last five starts.

The Everton fans’ criticism of Bolasie might seem harsh. The 28-year-old has started Everton’s last five games and scored one goal as he makes his long-awaited return from a cruciate ligament rupture that saw him miss over a year of football. Now back on the pitch and back on the scoresheet, you’d have thought the Toffees propping our bar up would be pleased with the winger.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. The fans have dismissed Baines’ comments about their winger and have called for on-loan Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic to be given a chance next season. Bolasie has always come in for criticism for his lack of end product and during in his time at Crystal Palace, where he was deemed a success, he only scored 13 times in 144 appearances. The Goodison Park faithful are obviously pleased that Bolasie has comeback from such a horrible injury, although for now, they’d rather see him on the bench than on the pitch.
