According to a recent report from Turkish-Football, Divock Origi could be set for a move away in the near future. The 23-year-old currently plays his football at Premier League giants Liverpool and has done so since 2014, although with no appearances at all for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term, his future certainly looks to be away from Anfield.

And reports suggest that Galatasaray are interested in the £9 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) ahead of the January transfer window, which is news that should be of interest to Everton manager Marco Silva as, although it’d be a controversial move, the Toffees boss should seek to join the race for the forward in a bid to solve his own striking woes.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, Everton have been struggling for some time in the striking department, pretty much ever since Romelu Lukaku left for Manchester United back in 2017, with the likes of Cenk Tosun, Sandro Ramirez, and Oumar Niasse simply not producing the goods in the forward role.

In fact, new boss Silva tried natural winger Richarlison in the number nine role in their 2-1 victory over Leicester City to underline just how unconvinced he is by his current striking options, which isn’t really too much of a surprise given the aforementioned trio have scored just twice between them in the league this term - Sandro isn’t even at the club given how far he is down the pecking order.

Thus, it’s plainly obvious that if Silva is going to take Everton forward in the coming years, he has to address their striking woes, and making a move for Liverpool's Origi, albeit controversial given very few players in recent years have crossed the divide, would aid him with his quest.

The 23-year-old hasn’t always been a regular at Anfield since his move from Lille back in 2014, yet he has still returned 21 goals from his 77 appearances for the Reds, 12 of which coming in the Premier League.

In fact, he bagged ten times in all competitions for the Merseyside giants in his first season at the club in 2015/16 to underline his goal-scoring prowess, before backing that up the campaign after with 11 goals in what was Klopp’s first full season in charge - thus, he’s clearly got ability in front of goal.

And at the tender age of 23, Origi is surely only going to improve the more football he plays and goals he scores, and with Everton clearly in need of someone to lead the line in the coming years under Silva, he could be the ideal man.

At over six foot tall, the 23-year-old has the aerial prowess to give the likes of Richarlison and Theo Walcott someone to aim at in the box, while he also has pace and trickery to get into good positions for the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson to look for - he could be an asset to Silva.

Thus, while it would be something of a controversial move across the city, Everton must seek to join and indeed win the race for Origi, who could finally give Silva the answer to his evident striking woes.
