Controversial move to Everton would reignite the career of this £18m-rated Liverpool outcast

Everton supporters have been pretty happy in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their team finally record their second Premier League away victory of the season after beating struggling Stoke City 2-1 at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

Sam Allardyce’s men went into their meeting with the second-bottom Potters having managed to win just one of their preceding 15 away league games, thus culminating in a paltry tally of eight points. Nonetheless, the Toffees secured a second victory on the road on Saturday as a Cenk Tosun brace either side of an Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting equaliser saw them edge past Paul Lambert’s Stoke, thus moving Everton to 40 points and 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Thus, there have been many buoyant Evertonians in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are hoping that their side can build some momentum between now and May to set them up perfectly for the 2018/19 campaign.

And several of our resident Toffees fans are already thinking about who their team may seek to sign in the summer and, while it’d certainly be a controversial move, many are of the opinion that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has to make the move to Goodison Park to reignite his career.

Ultimately, the 28-year-old has struggled for regular gametime ever since Jurgen Klopp took over as manager back in October 2015, to the point that the England forward has been shipped out on loan to struggling West Brom in the second half of this season in a bid for regular football.

And with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah continuing to deliver the goods up top for the Merseyside giants, it’s not looking like Sturridge is going to command regular football for the Reds anytime soon, thus jeopardising both his club and international career.

As such, it’s clear that he needs to get out of Liverpool to reignite what has ultimately been a fine career to date, and where better than an Everton side who have seriously struggled for goals ever since Romelu Lukaku left for Manchester United last summer.

Summer signing Wayne Rooney, who hasn’t always been used in the centre forward position, is the only man to reach double figures in terms of Premier League goals this season, which simply isn’t good enough for a club who started the season with ambitions of challenging the top six.

And while Cenk Tosun has come in and is starting to show his class, the likes of Oumar Niasse and Sandro Ramirez, the latter on loan at Sevilla, simply cannot be relied upon, and as such more attacking reinforcements are needed to take Everton to the next level.

And that is where Sturridge comes in.

The 28-year-old has scored goals at every club he has been at and done so at a prolific rate, and with the likes of Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson just behind, and Yannick Bolasie and Theo Walcott down the flanks, he will get ample opportunities to score and continue his fine Premier League goal-scoring.

Clearly, Sturridge needs Everton in a bid for the regular football that will enable him to get back to his best, and thus return to the England fold, and Everton need Sturridge as part of their striking ranks if they are to move to the next level next season.

Thus, the £18 million-rated Liverpool outcast (as per Transfermarkt) simply must make the controversial move across the city to reignite his career.
