Everton have made their first move of the summer transfer window.

With just two weeks left before the window slams shut, Marco Silva has finally made his first signing as Everton’s new manager. Unsurprisingly, he returned to Watford to land Brazilian winger – Richarlison. The Blues will pay £35m up front with the deal potentially reaching as high as £50m.

With a new winger added to his front line, Silva will now turn his attention to defence. With Phil Jagielka approaching the end of his career and Ashley Williams failing to impress, the Portuguese needs to sign a new centre-back partner for Michael Keane. The ex-Burnley man didn’t show what he was capable of during his first season at Goodison Park but needs a solid partner next to him in the heart of defence.

The perfect signing could be Real Sociedad star – Diego Llorente. Valued at £15.75m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard joined the club last summer from Real Madrid after impressing on loan at Malaga. He starred for Sociedad, making 27 appearances in La Liga, helping his team’s cause with two goals.

Llorente is comfortable at right-back or holding midfield where he uses his excellent passing ability. He completed 89% of his passes last year and averaged 4.7 long balls per game – more than any other Everton player last season (WhoScored).

Still only 24-years-old, the former Spain international can be the defender Everton fans have been crying out for.
