Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see some good deals to propel them into Europe this January but, as quoted by Fox Sports, Jose Mourinho has suggested they’re some way off signing the likes of Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.
The Toffees have had a strange season so far with them looking like Champions League candidates at one point before looking like nothing more than mid-table also-rans at other times.
That kind of form suggests more quality is needed and many here by the bar think signing Schneiderlin and Depay would certainly help that out but, according to Mourinho, they are some way off of a deal.
The former Chelsea boss said of any potential transfer:
“We are waiting for something that a couple of weeks ago looked like 100 percent and at the moment looks like zero percent because we don’t have any offer that is close to the quality for the players we have.”
Our landlord thinks the Toffees should try and up their offer, then, as the club can now afford to bring in players of a slightly better calibre more often than they have been able to before.
