The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s update on Icelandic midfielder, Gylfi Sigurdsson. The club tweeted that Sigurdsson would be out for between six and eight weeks, with a link to the Everton website for more details. Sigurdsson suffered the injury in the first half of the Toffees’ Premier League against Brighton but continued to complete the full 90 minutes.
Everton fans will be hoping Sigurdsson will be available for the last few games of their season as a late push for European football could put a silver lining on the cloud that has been this season. Fans came into the year with high expectations after the club’s busy summer transfer window. The club brought in a number of players to bolster their squad to cope with the loss of Romelu Lukaku and to handle the pressure of European football.
It’s been a dismal campaign for the blue half of Merseyside though as ambitions to crack the top six have fallen flat, with the club now sitting 9th, 11 points away from 6th placed Arsenal. A number of signings have failed to deliver in front of the Goodison faithful and fans will be quick to write this season off in the hope that next year can bear more fruit.
Here’s our resident Toffee’s verdict on Sigurdsson:
Get Well Soon Gylfi, offered some lightning bolts to brighten a stormy season, rest well and good luck with your rehab and recuperation!

Would be nice to potentially see him back before the end of the season.
