Tottenham are reported to be lining up a bid for Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes, according to Turkish media Haberturk. The 26-year-old currently plays for Besiktas in the Turkish League.
Fernandes has previously played in the Premier League whilst on loan to Everton for whom he made a total of 21 appearances. He has also played for Benfica, Portsmouth (loan) and Valencia.
He signed a new three-year contract for Besiktas in July 2011 which will make any attempt to sign him more expensive.
Fernandes has had a chequered career with permanent moves to Everton, Portsmouth and Internazionale all breaking down for a variety of reasons, including prohibitive cost and injury. He has also been capped eight times by Portugal.
Spurs are said to be prepared to offer as much as €17million for the player.
