Everton: Alex Iwobi’s performance during 3-2 loss at Arsenal has supporters fuming

Following Everton’s 3-2 defeat away to Arsenal at the weekend, a game where Carlo Ancelotti’s side relinquished their five-match unbeaten run, many Toffees supporters have been lamenting midfielder Alex Iwobi’s performance during the contest – with one fan even sarcastically saying that he has a newfound appreciation for Oumar Niasse.

An early strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin originally gave Everton a surprising lead, with the Englishman’s acrobatic finish continuing his fine run of form, but quick-fire goals from Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang managed to give the home side an arguably deserved comeback. However, after Richarlison prodded the Toffees level with his outstretched finish, Carlo Ancelotti’s men appeared to have the momentum going into half-time.

Despite this, Aubameyang capped off his brace with a superb header to notch Arsenal back in front just after the restart as the home side eventually won the thrilling contest 3-2. Iwobi, despite completing 90% of his passes and all of his attempted dribbles (SofaScore), has attracted criticism from some Everton supporters – with one fan even saying that Iwobi makes him ‘appreciate Niasse‘.
