Our Everton and Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly happy with their respective sides’ transfer business in this window.
The two north-west clubs have both spent big with the likes of Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane joining Everton and Kyle Walker and Danilo going to City – amongst others.
It appears, though, that both teams are not done in terms of signing defensive minded players as, according to Sport – via Sport Witness – they are keen on Inigio Martinez of Real Sociedad.
Indeed, the centre-half is entering his prime and may fancy a new challenge away from the Basque region based club but it remains to be seen where exactly.
Indeed, the Toffees and the Citizens are set to have pretty stern competition for the player with the report saying that Barcelona are also keen.
They’ve just been boosted financially with the Neymar money, too, and so it could just end up that they are the ones that are successful in this battle.
The Toffees and Citizens have both had good summer’s and this would more than likely top things off for both.
Martinez is a top defender and has really grown with Sociedad so he’d more than likely be a success in the Premier League – providing that one of the two can ward off the other and any potential approach from Barcelona.
