Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly pleased with how this summer window has gone so far with them getting in two players early on.
The men from Goodison Park have had a good year so far under Ronald Koeman with his first season seeing him guide them to a strong seventh place.
Indeed, they could seriously push on into the top six with the right additions and that is certainly the hope with the likes of Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen arriving.
The deals, though, are surely set to continue and with AS reporting that there is interest from them in Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour we certainly think the club is continuing to get things right.
Of course, they’d still need to actually bring him in to fully say they’ve managed another good move but the Tunisian is the kind of player they need to add to their squad.
A strong and dependable centre-back, the former Monaco man would add his European experience to an area of the pitch where the Toffees are a little short.
Indeed, Ashley Williams, Ramiro Funes Mori and Phil Jagielka are the only senior central defenders the club has – though there is hope for the likes of Mason Holgate – and for a club that is in Europe next season that isn’t enough.
For sure, then, signing Abdennour would make sense and he’d also likely be a relative bargain – making sure he ticks plenty of boxes this summer.
