Everton summer target Ibrahima Diallo could be ready to leave France and embark on a new adventure after reports tip him to make an exit.

Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly been 'following him closely' and the Blues could get their hands on their target this summer, however they face competition from Leicester City.

According to Le Télégramme (via Sport Witness), both Premier League sides are interested in acquiring the services of Diallo and the French outlet believes 'the trend leans towards an exit'.

Diallo joined French side Stade Brest from Monaco last summer and according to reports, his former club will bag 20% of any future sale. As a result, Brest are looking for a minimum of €20 million (£17.8m) for the sale of the Frenchman.

Leicester have reportedly already made a bid of €16m (£14.2m) for the 21-year-old but the club knocked it back.

The midfielder has 22 appearances across all competitions this season for Brest, but has only managed to contribute one assist. In his entire senior career, the France U20 international has failed to score any goals (via Transfermarkt).

Although Everton desperately need to recruit this summer, they cannot afford to throw money at players who aren't guaranteed to aid Ancelotti in his quest to transform the team. A 21-year-old midfielder who has never played in the Premier League before with just two career assists seems like someone the Blues should try to avoid.

Everton's academy system has delivered plenty of promising young talent over the years, including Wayne Rooney who of course went on to dominate for both club and country. Tom Davies for example has done well to graduate and break into the senior squad, but he is in need of guidance and some practise in contributing to goals.

Other young rising stars like Anthony Gordon are also eager to get their chance in the senior team and it would seem like a slap in the face to pay good money for a player of seemingly the same calibre.

£17.8million is a decent amount of money for a club like Everton and they shouldn't throw it around aimlessly. The club needs to prioritise nurturing its own up-and-coming talent rather than bringing in other youngsters with below average stats.
