Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern like most other teams sat around mid-table are hoping that the season draws to a close sooner rather than later. Despite results gradually getting better under Sam Allardyce, the Toffees will hope to surpass their rather average season by improving the squad this summer.
Everton’s January signings of Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun have impressed within the recent weeks and Goodison Park is excited to see what the future holds for the duo. These are the type of quality players Everton simply must acquire if they want to upgrade their mid-table woes into European dreams.
With that in mind, Cenk Tosun could be a better player for Everton with a striking partner, someone we think should be Burnley’s Chris Wood who is valued at £10.80 million on Transfermarkt. Since joining Turf Moor in the summer from Championship side Leeds, Chris Wood has enjoyed a successful transition into the top flight. Although he has struggled with injury during the season, in 23 total appearances, he has scored 10 goals as well as assisting his team-mates on two occasions.
That return is very good and Wood isn’t a player who should be frowned upon as a “one-season wonder”. The powerful New Zealander is deadly in the air and equally as strong with the ball at his feet which makes him a player worth considering at Goodison Park.
Chris Wood is reaching the peak of his game and whilst still being at the age of 26, the striker still has years ahead to improve his game. Everton have struggled for a goalscorer up until Cenk Tosun’s recent impressive form, something that has to be amended this summer.
Wood would be a wonderful addition at Goodison Park, giving the Toffees options up front for the first time in a while.
