Everton needed a moment of magic from Glyfi Sigurdsson to secure all three points away to Leicester at the weekend.

The Toffees’ record signing, Richarlison, continued his hot streak in front of goal, opening the scoring after just seven minutes. The Foxes dominated after falling behind and deserved their equaliser with Ricardo Pereira bagging from a corner. With the score level, it was Sigurdsson who stepped up, lashing home a wonderful effort from a distance leaving Kasper Schmeichel with no chance.

The result will give Marco Silva confidence heading into the international break with a visit from Crystal Palace next up. Three points is all that matters, but the Portuguese will definitely be concerned with Cenk Tosun’s lack of goals in attack. The Turkish international has just one goal this season, and an upgrade could be required in January.

One man he should target is Real Sociedad forward – Willian Jose. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian enjoyed a sensational campaign in Spain last season, netting 20 goals in all competitions as well as registering four assists. Jose has continued his goalscoring exploits into the new term, with three goals in La Liga already in just four starts.

A strong, quick and powerful forward – the 26-year-old is ideal for Silva’s system at Goodison Park. Jose can hold the ball up well but also makes intelligent runs in behind. Using his instinctive finishing, the goals would be flowing with Richarlison and Theo Walcott alongside him. Jose is also a massive aerial threat meaning he should have no problem leading the line.

Bringing Jose to Merseyside could be the catalyst to push for a European place.
